                         Jim Reeves book cover

Larry Jordan's long-anticipated new book on singer Jim Reeves is nearing completion. Since 1998, Larry has exhaustively researched Jim's life, done hundreds of taped interviews with people who knew Jim and/or Mary Reeves, subsumed thousands of pages of personal documents (including the Reeveses' diaries, letters and contracts), plus unearthed the rarest of rare recordings. He has culled the best photos from scores of never-before-seen images. The result is a massive, 672-page book that is encyclopedic in scope, but written in a brisk, compelling and fascinating narrative style. It is a very intimate portrait of one of the world's most popular — and enduring singers. The book will contain scores of surprising — even explosive — revelations. Even Reeves buffs who think they are "experts" about the singer will glean much new information about the real Jim Reeves! Be among the first to acquire a copy of this hot new book, which will make headlines around the world for its important (and sometimes shocking) disclosures about Jim and some of his well-known colleagues in the entertainment field. Just sign up to be notified when the book is ready for release...and Larry will personally autograph your copy upon request...

There will only ever be one Jim Reeves, although many singers have tried to emulate this unique voice.

There are no carbon copies, no look-alike and no replacement.

Jim Reeves was certainly the most important performer in Country music history . In no small way, he played an important role in the world acceptance of Country music. He opened the door for many of today's leading entertainers.

Today, forty five years after his untimely death, his records are still sold internationally all over the world.

I think that says it all.  In Jim's own words; "We thank thee"

Decades go by, and those of us who had the opportunity to meet and see the legendary Gentleman Jim Reeves perform live are becoming fewer as time continues to march by.

Since I first met Tony Wall, I am finding those decades moving much too fast.  We share many great memories from his trips to California and our many visits to Nashville, Tennessee and Jim’s hometown of Carthage, Texas.  The people we met along the way who knew and loved Jim Reeves will stay with us the rest of our lives.

I have evolved with Tony Wall the singer from sitting in his living room in England while he sang and accompanied himself on guitar, to being in Leo Jackson’s home in Tennessee while he played Jim Reeves’ Martin guitar.

The evolution of Tony’s singing career is truly remarkable.  Somehow he has fine-tuned his voice like a vintage wine.  It continues to improve with age.  For someone who has listened to the music of many great baritones and spent his life dedicated to the appreciation of one of the greatest ballad singers of all time, Jim Reeves, I am not an easy convert to adding a new singer to my favourites list.

Tony’s latest offering “He’ll Have to Go – A 50 year Celebration” has won me over.  His diversity from the title song to “Fool’s Paradise” and “Anna Marie” are true enjoyment and showcase his beautiful baritone.  When I first heard “Read This Letter”, I was moved beyond words to describe my feelings.

Tony, you’re on my favourites list.  In the years to come, spend them well sharing your gift of delivering a song.

            Sincerely,

Hello Tony...
I visited your web site and I must say it really looks great. In addition I think you have a wonderful voice and do a great job singing Jim's songs. Before my dad became ill, he and I visited and listened to several singers here in the U.S. who did tributes to Jim, and I was rather disappointed with most. You have a very natural sound that is very similar to Jim, of course not exactly the same, but I think you are one of the best I have heard, and I enjoy listening to what I have heard so far. I am so happy that you have found the time now to devote much of your time to something you love. You have already done so much work on behalf of Jim and his legacy. I wish my father could have heard your tributes before he left us, I know he would of enjoyed them. Since dad died in February I miss all the wonderful stories about he and Jim and their young days in east Texas, but I am thankful that there are a few folks out there in the world like you who are still keeping the memories of our dear Jim alive for generations to come. Keep up the good work, I wish you much success.

In 1984 I made the first of many trips to Nashville. With David Bussey, former UK fan club president, and with the help of Joyce Jackson, Jim's personal secretary, I had the opportunity of meeting and of spending time with some wonderful well known people, and, I might add, not one of them with an inflated ego. They were just down-to-earth and fun to be around. Over the years, Jim's music has opened the door to many new friends from all over the world. In the gallery below I share some of these magic times.
